Prayer Shawl Ministry

Hands of love weave comfort through our Prayer Shawl Ministry. Prayer shawls are a gift of love to those who are ill, suffering a loss or a crisis. We also make baby blankets when a child is born into the St. Andrew’s community.

Compassionate caring and the love of handcrafting are combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of blessing and comfort. People can create shawls in their homes or we can create a circle of crafters who meet at the church or other place. Please send an email to our Congregational Nurse, Donna Rutherford at nurse@staopen.org and let her know if you are interested in being part of a Prayer Shawl Circle.

Completed shawls can be brought to the Pastoral Care Office. Please label your shawl so that those receiving your gift will know who has devoted their special talent and time to this ministry. Barbara Miller is our “go to” person for questions, ideas, suggestions and technical expertise. She can be reached at barbara-miller@live.com Another example of shawl ministry, plus lots of information, can be found at www.shawlministry.com (This is an independent site, and St. Andrew's may not endorse all its content)
