Education and
Spiritual Formation

Our Mission: To develop in all our participants, as they question and search: an understanding of their own Christian faith in a way that respects other faiths, an understanding of themselves and the knowledge that they are loved, good relationships in their families, in the church and in the larger community, and a calling to work for peace and justice among all peoples of the world.

Adult Classes on Sunday Mornings at 9:30

Sunday with Jim Rigby

Jim is back this Sunday, August 1st. He teaches each Sunday on a topic that is closely tied to that day’s sermon.

A Year Through the Bible - First and Third Sundays

This class looks at how the Bible came to be, with an overview of each book of the Bible. The goal is to become more familiar with all the books of the Bible. You can join in at any point. The class meets in the first room on the left in the Children’s wing. Babs Miller serves as convener.

"Common Threads" - Second and Fourth Sundays

This class continues its discussion of “Have a Little Faith: A True Story” by Mitch Albom July 11 and 25. Albom’s first nonfiction book since Tuesdays with Morrie, “Have A Little Faith” begins with an unusual request: an 82-year-old rabbi from Albom’s old hometown asks him to deliver his eulogy. Feeling unworthy, Albom insists on understanding the man better, which throws him back into a world of faith he’d left years ago. Join Art Rutherford as we explore the many pearls of wisdom of Rabbi Albert Lewis: how to endure when difficult things happen; the divine spark inside us all; the profound comfort of believing in something bigger than yourself; and many others. July classes will include topics such as: “Why War?”, “Your Faith, My Faith”, “What is Rich?” and “Your Immortality.” Please plan to join us!

Discovering Your Own Tree of Life

This class, which normally meets the first Sunday of each month, will be on hiatus for August and September while its facilitator, Pam Wagner, takes a break. The class will resume in the fall.

Pam describes the class: "Our monthly meeting will not include a monthly lecture. We may have a topic to discuss, but this will be a time when people seeking a more fulfilling spiritual life can share their experiences with one another, and I hope benefit from one another in community. In our modern world, people are bombarded by noise and severe demands on their time. Our monthly meetings, I hope, will offer an opportunity to look at how people can create meaningful spiritual lives, how they can discover their own tree of life and find solace in its roots and shelter under its branches."
